I got 2 asst ducklings from TSC on March 16th which are the little rouen and the cayuga. The other much larger rouen and the pekin(I'm assuming?) were brought home April 5th. The little rouen is female, she is super loud and quacks all the time and is in charge of everyone lol. But why is she so small? She also is the only one that can fly. She flew over to me for treats from halfway across the yard today. Is she even a rouen? Or is it just a case of tractor supply chicks not being up to breed standard? It's just so funny seeing the bigger ducks following around this tiny little duck lol.

Oh boy! Well that explains a lot lmao! I wasn't expecting to get a mallard since they weren't included in the "mixed duck assortment" on the hatchery description page. That's why I assumed rouen. I also assumed at first that my black duck must be a black runner because it was the only one that made sense out of what was listed. But once she(?) started getting those colors and didn't have the stance of a runner I did a little more research lol. Well, I guess I will just have to clip her wings to make sure she stays around. Here is a pic if her when she was a baby. She has a little bit of a second line so I thought that counted

Your big Rouen looks just like the boys I recently got from TSC. Your little one is for sure a Mallard and looks just like the ones I bought from Metzer Farms and came to me from California. Hopefully your Rouen will not try to mate her but if he does if she is old enough it might not be a problem. Mine are not trying anything yet and I hope to rehome them before they do.
