To pinless peeper or not to pinless peeper- that is the question

Guys... I think i just got the wool pulled over my eyes by lucille roberts 😳

I took her peepers off Friday as she was depressed and not really eating or drinking. She then after I removed the peepers went around pecking at my legs, the coop, the walls lol. I left her like this until she started getting real sassy Saturday.. then realized I had been fooled by my own chicken. The peepers went back on and there is peace in the coop again.

Luna also likes to groom other hens, which they don't mind and I still don't see her plucking- so she remains without peepers..

Never a dull moment over here lol

Hi any updates? How many weeks did you keep them on? Did you noticed any of their nostrils becoming enlarged or bleeding? Or breathing problems

Thinking about trying this for my bullies and wanted to see how it worked for you . Thanks

Hi there! This Thursday will be three weeks and counting. No issues on their nasal cavity. No bleeding or breathing problems. The pecking has stopped but I am not ready to take them off just yet. I recommend it- if you don't like it you can always remove. But trust me- if you have a real picking problem- this solves it and resumes the peace in the coop.

What brand did you use? And where did you order them? All the ones on Amazon have bad ratings lol

I got them on Amazon

Pinless Peepers for Chickens... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09NL1RSJW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I feel that the reviews about them not staying on are accurate- it depends on the hens nasal cavity. Lunas nostrils are very small so it doesn't stay on her- but Mrs. Butterworth and Lucille Roberts are 3 weeks today and working. Lucille really shows a difference in behavior with them on- she was really knocked to the bottom of the pecking order. I noticed she is really not eating as she used to- so I may remove and separate her for a few days so she can eat and rejoin the flock. It doesn't help that it is the dead of winter and yard time is limited.

I took Lucille's peepers off today- she really was not eating and drinking and she met the 3 week mark.. she is definitely at the bottom of the pecking order and currently hiding in a boxwood up above their outdoor area lol. I may remove Mrs. Butterworth's- but she is not really having any of the challenges that Lucille had with eating and being part of the flock...

When is the time to remove if the hen is happy with the peepers on and peace is resumed?
