Hello. These three hens are probably around a year old now. They are of medium size, all black, and their eggs are medium size and appear to be blue-green-ish. I've sent pics to three hatcheries and all they can tell me is that they are a hybrid.

They are likely a hybrid but they do clearly have araucana/americauna genetics in their background.

Sage Eggers are hybrids. I imagine the eggs were supposed to have been green? When you mix genetics it depends on who gets what from the parents for their eggs to be those colors.

I think it's important to remember Sage Egger is just a name somebody made up. Of course that's really the case with any "breed" but they are not a distinct chicken at all. If I were you and the eggs were supposed to be a dark, muted green and they aren't, send pics to the breeder/seller and ask for part of your money back. Also, are the two beige eggs from them too? The seller needs to know some of their breeders aren't carrying the blue egg gene and should be happy to be notified.

These didn't come from a breeder, just an individual in the area. The other eggs are there just for size reference, but I failed to mention that. They all three produce the blueish or greenish eggs.

Hatchery "egger" hybrids don't breed true so if the person was breeding his eggers to each other rather than buying hatchery birds and selling extras there's no knowing what might result.

Sage eggers come from Alchemist Farm and have barring as they are Legbar hybrids. I don't think that is what you have. The egg color also doesn't look right-- the blue one in the picture looks more like a regular Easter egger egg.
