I seed my tomatoes before roasting them, are they safe to give to the ducks? The "treats" sticky says flesh only, but I was under the impression that being eaten by birds is a propagation method the plants depend on naturally.

My ducklings also go crazy for spaghetti squash, which is pretty amusing.

I’m pretty sure it’s the leaves of tomato plants that are toxic.

Hi there, hope you are enjoying BYC! :frow

Some plants propagate that way. The statement probably means the fruit and not the plant or stems.

Tomato plants are even harmless despite being in the nightshade family they are NOT deadly nightshade as some would have us to believe. My chickens have mowed them down relentlessly for years without harm.

Toxic is highly misunderstood word.. and can mean anything from causes a mild stomach ache, causes a headache, or even causes euphoria for example. In other words.. toxic and poisonous are two separate conditions.

No, they sprout in the body and the vegetation starts to grow in their stomach, eventually expanding, which slowly kills them.
Lol, we use to think my uncle had a watermelon growing in his belly (big and round) and it was going to start growing out his ears soon. :p

ETA: Many things are fine in moderation but should not be fed excessively.

I'm only joking!

Tomatoes seeds are fine, just expect some reddish colored poop.
This reminded me of when I was a kid and had a meltdown over swallowing a lemon seed.

I mean, if the plant grows inside them you don’t need to feed them anymore, am I right, or am I right?
