Tough egg to crack

Hey everyone.
We're raising quail now for meat and eggs, but man, how do you all crack your quail eggs?!
We can only hard boil them right now as it's near impossible to crack them without shell getting everywhere! We tried on the flat counter, glass edge, even wacking it with a knife edge....any ideas?

I think they make special scissors for quail eggs. You can find them on Amazon!

You can use a serrated knife (like a steak knife) to kind of saw off the top of the fat end of the egg. It works pretty well.

I've used the scissors and the serrated knife. The scissors are inexpensive and will are worth it.

I'd like to give some quail eggs away. And I only have the two hens laying currently. But that seemed useless without including the scissors.

I'm going to try that serrated knife trick. First time hearing about that.
I'm assuming they are the fine serrations that look like a series of ridges and not the larger scalloped ones?

Correct.
But no sense handing free scissors out with eggs. Not if there's another way to cleanly open the egg with something they already have at home.

Then, if they like them and want more, they can buy their own scissors.
