I have 2 toulouse geese.... is there anyway to tell if they are male or female w/o having them sexed? They are both loud... their bodies are built a bit differently... one is a lot more stocky and has been since it was little and has a white tip on its beak. The other is darker and a black tip in it's beak. They are both loud and hiss (not at me though... at the dog when it walks by then with toys).

From what I've read, you can tell gender more by behavior than by appearance. I am curious about sexing my Toulouse goose as well, but there is no way I am going to attempt to flip her (I think she's a girl) over to check. I doubt that I would survive the experience. I'll be keeping an eye on this topic. Good luck.

Generally, males are blockier, just bigger all over, and their voices are higher pitched. They look, overall, “masculine.”

Females are smaller, look more "feminine.” They have lower voices and usually are the quieter of the two sexes.

And you can always wait till spring & see who lays eggs.

This is sooo confusing. I also have two Toulouse geese. One is elegant with a long slender neck (I always think this is the female) the tip of her bill is white. The other is kind of stocky with a black tipped bill. The one I think is female honks where the other one makes noises of a different sort. The thing that really makes me think she is the female, is that she is the one my two runner-duck drakes offer their affection to (not that she's interested in the least!). We should all compare notes come spring.

I don't have Toulouse geese but I have tufted buff and the female has eyelashes. I am not sure if all the girls do but she does. It is so cool.

I also have 2 Toulouse ( 21/2 wks old)
In thinking might be Male & Female.. One is bigger in every way.. His beak is darker.. He talks louder.. Seems to be the one that "Sounds the alarm!" They are sooo cute!!
