Tractor Supply Stopped Stocking my feed

West wholesales, @AllenK RGV , so I'm hoping you can find their product, or a close competitors, much closer to you than a drive to Central TX. and at risk of offending a lot of natives of the Nation-State of Texas (where I spent 1/4 of my life), the kolache of West, TX, whether at Slovacek's, the Czech Stop, the Little Czech Bakery, or Gerik's aren't that great. Certainly not worth the attention Food Network lavished on them and the line out the door of the Czech Stop. or the prices they demand once inside. Save yourself the trip, and good luck finding something more local.

Chewy used to be the cheapest around several years ago but now I find that for a lot of stuff, at least for dogs and cats, they are either the same price or more expensive than in store  I know I’ve found some of the brands cheaper at TSC. But maybe it depends on the brand or something. I’m sure there’s cheaper ones there. But still.

I know the bird and small animal stuff is still cheaper as are most toys even dog and cat ones but the food has definitely gone up since I started buying from them hah think it’s because of their popularity and all the ads and stuff. Also a lot of the prices are way cheaper if you do auto ship which I never did. It didn’t used to be that big of a difference.

This isn’t bashing Chewy or anything, btw, I still love them and they have amazing customer service and I buy my small animal stuff from there still but I guess they gotta pay for all those ads somehow haha when I first found them they were still relatively small and hadn’t had ads and stuff yet. They did send me a Christmas card once though. :love 😂
There is only 1 TSC in my city & it's in a dangerous part of town. Chewy's customer service is phenomenal. I bought a 12pk of canned cat food for a skinny stray thinking is was meatloaf texture, but received chunks & gravy which she just liked the gravy off. I called to see if they'd help me select the right texture and they credited the original purchase & sent new product with no charge. Right up there with Land's End & Discover customer service - top notch!

I can get dog food for the same or less delivered to my door with chewy, but the 50 lb. bags of chicken feed are much higher to compensate for the free shipping. I ordered during the spring, but do curbside at my local feed store right now. The chicken feed from chewy was always fresh when I got it.
Thank you so much for mentioning the freshness of the chicken feed. I'd wondered about that. Now I know I'm set with ordering from them!

isn't EVERYBODY cheaper than the local PetSmart? Ours is hosting the local rescues for the Animal Shelter while its closed due to Covid, and they even marked up the prices on those!

in any event, those are impressive ship times. My Chewy orders (I'm a bit more remote, order Trifexis for the dogs twice a year) usually take 3-5 days - but its autoship, so I don't notice.
Really? Our humane society is open. I don't know what they charge for adoptions though.

That’s unfortunate. 😭 I guess I’m lucky in that we have two TSC’s nearby (one just opened up a few years ago. I still prefer the original lol) plus several other local small feed stores all over, though I only go to one of them. So we have options and they’re all safe, etc. I’ve been going to TSC lately but I’m gonna switch back to our local store. I love them. :love

And yeah their customer service is amazing!! I know a few times I’ve needed to return something or something got mixed up or whatever and they didn’t even make me return the other one. Just credited me and said to donate it or something. They’re amazing.

I've been buying feed at my local feed store, but they only offer Purina for chicken food and I've found it's crapshoot of whether it's crumbles or all dust. I've had the same problem with Purina One dog food at PetSmart or even the grocery store. It's a Purina issue & not a handling issue.
PS: my dogs won't eat crumbs!

That’s unfortunate. 😭😭 I hope they fix it! I have noticed the Flockraiser was very dusty for a while, although it seems to be better now thankfully. At least a bit. My local feed store actually doesn’t carry Purina. They used to carry Nutrena but they don’t even carry that any more as of a few years ago but they carry a great local brand I really like called Poulin Grain but I have a very mixed flock now so can’t feed layer anymore :( but they also have a Blue Seal Multiflock thing that is very good and higher protein than the Flockraiser. I think I’m gonna start shopping there again.

I feed Flockraiser for the additional protein. When it's so hot they don't eat much so the higher protein helps. Also their poop doesn't smell, whereas the layer was pretty bad. I think there is less soy. Even I digest their eggs easier so it's a win-win, no winds 😉
