Turkeys as pets :) <3

I understand completely. My only major predators are raccoons and hawks. I LOVE my ducks but I don't know how safe I'll always be able to keep them. I'm trying hard but it's wearing on my for sure. I can't imagine not having any birds in my yard though so I'm exploring turkeys to see how people like them

They are much more hardy. Raccoons and hawks I doubt will take down a full grown huge turkey. Make if they were small and young free ranging. They are AMAZING though and can be made so personable! I'd highly suggest them honestly! I love my pair :) they are my pets and babies. My 8 month old heritage blacks. I love ducks too tho! I actually have myself four. :)

Do the turkeys and ducks get along well?
Mine would strictly be as pets...I don't eat meat. I just enjoy having them to run through the yard while I'm outside.

Yes turkeys are great pets, and a beautiful site to watch especially the toms :) and well my ducks and my turkeys live in two different places I'm finishing up senior year and had my ducks living at my school ag farm during fair season and stuff so that's where my ducks and geese are currently at and then my turkeys live here at home :) but my ducks should be home sometime cause I have to take
Them home by the end of the school year!

Aw dang. Well keep me posted as to how they do together. I've read some horror stories from people with feather plucking and bullying

Will do! And I know. It's awful right?? What breed of turkey are you interested in?
So I sound like an idiot- but up until last week I didn't realize there were breeds.
It had just never crossed my mind.
Preferably something with a good personality (and I know thats partly up to how I treat them too) and something that can be overall healthy

You know what I mean, variety and color and such :) I have three heritage breeds currently. I would never do broad breasted!! I have one chocolate tom, my black mix pair; hen and tom the one I posted pics of, and then I have a blue slate pair at my school ag farm too :) the chocolate and the two blacks live at my house. Do you like the blacks?

My tom and hen are so sweet! My hen is currently sitting on the table out in my back yard behind me eating and my tom is on the floor being handSome! :) I love these guys so much, so well behaved

Oh man they're beautiful! I wouldn't really care too much about color. Yours are all incredible! I would just want something fun with some personality and something not bred specifically for meat if that's an option. My pekins got WAY too fat WAY too fast and we're trying to get it under control now. I take my ducks for a walk every evening haha!
It's long term thinking for sure. I don't want the turkeys while I have my ducks, but maybe down the road.
