We purchased a resin 8ftX71/2ftX8ft shed from Lowe's (http://tinyurl.com/3zhnub4) with the idea of turning it into a chicken coop. We own two Australorps (Bob and Henrietta) and have a chicken rabbit hutch which is not meeting their (or our) needs.

This is a picture of my husband laying out a base to get the coop off of the ground. The man at Lowe's recommended this, and the directions give exact dimensions and what to buy (which my husband discovered AFTER measuring everything.

Here is a picture of the coop floor. We put it together and placed on the base. Assembling the base requires two people and is a tiny bit tricky. We ended up standing the pieces upright after getting them partially snapped together.

Husband is out now with my younger son getting plywood, more cement blocks, and more 2X4s to complete the base.

We hope to purchase more Australorp hens once the building is finished.

I use a smaller shed like that. There are pictures on my BYC page. I like it, works well for me. I've had it for 7 years now with no problems.

We finished the base for the shed today and attached the floor. I will take a picture of the attached floor tomorrow. I have pictures of the put together base (concrete blocks and 2X4's and plywood) and all of the helpers. My older son carried heavy concrete blocks from the minivan to the site in a wagon. My Mom carried 2X4s and helped watch the kids. Andy sawed, and both of us nailed.

I have never seen a resin shed done up into a coop - I can't wait to see your progress photos! Sounds good so far. We are new here and also are in the building process with our coop/run. It's the Disneyland Chicken Coop thread if you would like to come visit.
