I received an "assorted" mix from Sand Hill Preservation and while they provided a list of breeds two don't quite line up. There were two "filler" chicks so perhaps someone can help me identify. Photo uploading is being very weird with me today so apologies for that.

The list says two Barred Hollands, but I have three barred birds with two different patterns. The males are one pattern and the hen another so I can't tell if its a sex linked thing (does that happen with barred birds?) or two different breeds. Especially confusing because I should only have TWO barred birds, not three.

The second breed is pictured below the rest. I am wondering if they are Mottled Javas (only the roo is pictured), which SH does breed but isn't on the list of what I received. Never worked with or seen a Java in person so its a big guess with that one.

Any help is appreciated!

Well, I'm seeing three cockerels in the group... I think the pullet is a barred rock... otherwise, I'm not certain.

Are you talking about the fourth picture? The three barred (two cockerels and one pullet) with one of the jaerhon cockerels?

Interesting that the pullet might be a barred rock because I was think she was the holland and the other two were rocks. Hollands are so rare is is hard to find photos of them. Thank you for the input!

Pic #1. Looks like a Barred holland
Pic #2. Looks like a Black Sex link (brown leakage in the feathers) or else a very bad quality or even mixed, bird.
Pic #3 and 4. Barred Holland
Pic #5. Silver Penciled Rock.

Silver penciled Rock...interesting. I will have to look into that more but a quick google search seems like that doesn't line up for the pullet (not pictured). I will try to get a picture of her and the cockerel together.

And yes lots of brown in the feathers of one of the cockerels. I haven't been sure what to make of it and it is quite possible these two are the "filler" birds which they explicitly say could be mixes...but could also not be.

I think barred 2 and java 1 are both cockerels, and barred 2's body looks like some kind of game bird. What else are you supposed to have? Curious.

The full list is: (2) Barred hollands, (8) black blue or splash orpingtons, (2) black shamo, (2) black penedescenca, (1) dark grey dorking, (6) norwegian jaerhons, (1) spangled russian orloff (1) white crested black polish and (2) Fillers

According to that list I lost 2 jaerhons, 3 orps, and 1 penedescenca, and 1 unknown in shipment. I have 3 barred birds and two others to fill the holland, shamo, and filler slots. But I definitely don't have any shamo so I had a hunch they checked java because they are right next to each other but doesn't seem to be checking out.

Its been a fun adventure but I don't think I'll ever order from them again. Mostly because they claim to not sex but I ended up with only 3 pullets out of the 18...

If you had fillers, those are definitely the two with brown leakage. Sex links. You can tell roosters at hatch, so they just get rid of them by sending them to you.
