What is the difference between doxycycline tylosin and regular tylosin? Like what situation would call for doxycycline tylosin instead of the tylosin alone?

Tylosin is usually just Tylosin or Tylosin Tartrate.

Doxy-Tyl is a combination of Doxycycline and Tylosin.

Both can be used to treat respiratory infection in poultry due to Mycoplasma.
Is one better than the other? Hard to know.

What are you trying to treat?

I have a few silkies that started showing signs of respiratory infection. Sneezing, wet nostrils and bubbles in their eyes. I was trying to figure out which would be best and plan to treat the entire flock to be safe. I would be ordering it from jedds.

If you notice the Tylosin has 100 grams of Tylosin while the Doxy-Tyl has 40grams of Tylosin. It contains some Doxycycline as well. So you are not giving enough of one or the other. I am not a fan of combination drugs. I would use the Tylosin over this other product. Or you could use full strength doxycycline if you can get that, but they’re a month long egg withdrawal, and dosage is all over the place if you research it. Tylosin has no egg withdrawal. Just my opinion here.

Thank you so much. I definitely just wanted to cover all my bases and make sure I knocked the sickness out. I’ll go with the tylosin if it’s better for this situation.
