Unable to raise chicks they die after 2-3 weeks!

Adil I have to ask, if you live in a flat what are your plans for the chicks in the future? Do you have someone that can keep them when they are adults?

Hi,
I lost all of them..
I tried my level best but no avail so i quit raising dyed chicks. I purchased two weeks ago two different chicks they are doing well and growing as-well. I will take them out and have made a fairly big wooden cage to keep them in my gallery. So hoping for the best!

Can you tell me the breed of chicks i purchased?

Thanks!

AdilLucky, these dyed chick are probably getting toxin's from
dye so please do not get anymore of them , now that cage
is a lot better then the bird cage you were using before

When do you plan on going to the market and getting more
chicks ?? When ever it is get just regular chicks no dyed
chicks as chicks are super sensitive and you wouldn't use
any dye products on one of your children would you ??

Them chicks were looking really good in your last photo ..
so what happened or did you just find them dead one
morning ??

So sorry about your loss again but I do hope you are
learning something new every time you try to raise your
chicks

The chicks in the photo are the new "un-dyed" chicks that he purchased to replace the ones that passed on.

Adil I noticed in the pics of the other chicks that they didn't seem to be growing much, I thought that could be from lack of protein (and that could be part of the problem) but if they were sick from toxins that would stunt growth too.

Please be sure to keep feeding them high protein so your chicks develop normally, they will grow FAST! Be ready and enjoy them every day.

It is actually rather surprising that they even sell dyed chicks in Pakistan, the whole idea of colored chicks came from the Christian/Pagan celebration of Easter. Kind of surprised that copying Christian/Pagan celebrations would be popular in Pakistan, seems like the religious folks would frown on it.

The next time you go to that store, tell them about the coloring of chicks and that the dyes kill them. Maybe they will stop coloring them.

Hi Adil. The white chick is probably a White Leghorn, not sure about the other one. I'm sorry you are having a hard time getting your chicks to live. A friend of mine bought 30 dyed chicks and they all died too. Many years ago people here in the US would raise their chicks on wet corn meal. If you have any corn meal available that might help. I know eggs are not cheap there but corn meal and egg might be a good choice too. *Also, if you want to try something different - if you can get "chick food" from the market you can "ferment" that feed and make it much much better. I feed fermented feed to my birds from day one and they do very very well. All you have to do is put the chick feed in a container (NOT metal container), then add water to the feed and mix it really well with the water. Put enough water that about 1 inch of water stands above the feed. Let the feed and water sit for a few days, until the water starts to get a few bubbles. (The feed will probably absorb all of the water and that's okay.) Then feed that to your chicks. They might not like it at first but soon they will love it and it is VERY good for them. BEFORE you use all of that fermented feed, add some more feed and more water and stir well again. That will make more fermented feed in maybe 8 hours. You should never use all of the feed. Leave some feed to start the next feed. If you have any yogurt mix some of it in the feed when you first make it. That will really speed up the fermentation process a lot. This is very similar to the process used to make yogurt. This fermenting process will also save you money because the feed will last longer. Good luck and God bless you!

I forgot to add, if you can get vinegar add 1 tablespoon to 1 gallon of water for your chicks to drink. (1 Tb vinegar/1 gallon water) Also, you can feed your chicks *yogurt or buttermilk* to help them. This is very good for them.

Good luck!

So sorry you lost your original flock. But these two look good! And their area is a great improvement for living space. Cute chicks and good luck with them!
