Untrain a accidently trained jumping pig?

Well I know nothing about farm pigs but I’m pretty good at mini pigs so maybe worth a try since she’s young. Do not treat or feed as she jumps, as mentioned above push her down with a knee, only when she’s calm does she get food or pets. Practice “move the pig” anytime you go out, wherever she is, laying down or standing, make her move. Shuffle your feet and make her go elsewhere. This means you’re top hog, she will catch on. Keep us posted.

I would strongly recommend against hand feeding large breed pigs. It can result in them “bumping” your legs for food when they get older and it will leave grapefruit sized bruises at the very least if not send you flying (ask me how I know). Smaller breeds it’s not as big of an issue, but the bigger breeds once they reach a certain size they can’t jump so they bump you instead. When I was a kid I had a sow send me flying out of the pig pen. It felt like I got checked by 500lb linebacker.
Thanks! Yes, will correct this behavior.

Thanks and the issue with the knee bump (what I do with dogs) is... she is too short and when she does jump it lands bellow the knee. Makes it harder to "knee bump". Dogs I can get about their chest. Her... it would be a knee to the face. We (wife and I) agreed to instantly stop feeding/treats once they jump. We also may try the "pick me up method"... while we can? Maybe. But knee bumping won't work. Thanks

I understand but a shove with a foot or shin is essentially the same, doesn’t need to be a kick. I wish you luck.

I have not trained a pig, but I have trained a lot of dogs, large and small for this issue. Pigs are as smart or smarter than dogs and as trainable. Forget the physical corrections, they will not go over well when the pig is full grown. With dogs I teach an alternative behavior, something that is incompatible with the undesirable one. For dogs the easiest thing to teach is sit. A dog, or pig cannot sit and jump on you at the same time. If you teach it with a verbal cue, you can tell her sit as she approaches, before she even gets close to you, and can toss her the treat when she does it. This will work for women and children too, who cannot physically " correct" a large pig. Get a good dog training book, I recommend " When Pigs Fly" by Jane Killion for a clear and accurate explanation of the principles of clicker training and good exercises for different behaviors.

Yes. Pigs are super easy to train to sit.
