USING CARDBOARD BOXES AS TEMPORARY NESTING BOXES

Thanks! for everyone's input!!! Good to know that my idea was not too crazy (at least THIS time!

Speaking of cardboard, any thoughts on using shredded cardboard for a portion of the bedding? I have a HEAVY duty shredder, and currently use it to shred cardboard to use as bedding for my worm composting bins...Worms like to eat chicken poop, so I could use the soiled chicken bedding in my worm bins and REALLY recycle!!
I was wondering the same thing. I shred cardboard for the worm bins, and thought maybe they could also be used for the chickens nesting boxes?. My only hesitation is the glue and occasional printing on the boxes I shred. The worms love the glue, but could it harm the birds?

Several people shred paper and cardboard for bedding and report that it works very well.
@gtaus is one that has been doing it for quite a while.

I use cardboard boxes all the time. My hens won't use the plastic ones I put out for them at all. I also like that you can just "toss" them and replace them for free.

I use shredded paper & card board. Don't have pics of nesting boxes w/ it though. I've used in brooders and as part of the litter in pen/coop combos.

Well, I got of do... cardboard will show up less than white paper. 191007_185856.jpg 20181228_142110.jpg
