I was bubbling around the internet today and I came across this web site:
http://www.catsadored.com/NEAR PERFECT LITTER/NEAR_PERFECT_LITTER.htm

He talks about this "near perfect litter" Which is just crumbles chicken food!

If you compare the price of chicken food to the price of cat littler, it is a butt load cheaper.

I already use the Rubbermaid style bin as a cat box for my big fat cats. And they love it.

I was wondering if anyone has used the chicken food for litter idea? It seems like it would be just like "worlds best cat litter" which I have no tried yet either. But it would be ALOT cheaper then Worlds best.

I can not allow my cats outside. I used to give them some outside time but I have had a cat "kitty napped' just a few weeks ago and it gave us all quite a scare. I don't live in the country. I live in the big city, and the next door to me has started leaving out rat poison.

Even when I did let me cats outside they would still come inside to go potty though.

This was posted a couple months ago. I thought it sounded interesting so I tried it.

Pros:
Very good at controlling feces odor
No dust
Not chemically smelling

Cons:
Didn't clump urine well
Had to dump more d/t urine smell so little $ savings
One of the cats didn't like using it

I just last week gave up decided to go back to Arm & Hammer. I would rather have dust than a strong urine odor. and I got tired of cleaning up after an errant cat.

I also use a large tote for the 3 cats.

Works fairly well. There is no more odor than using any other cheap litter. It's about the same as using corn cob based litters like world's best which is very pricy. The downside is it does not clump as well so you do end up scooping more out. With feed prices having gone up since people started this idea that does make it so it's not much cheaper than the cheap litters. It is still healthier and safer though than clay litters.
