Hello all! I am building a coop and received 4 sheets of TechShield Radiant Barrier OSB today. I plan to use it for the roof to keep the coop cooler in the summer. What is the best way to use it to get the most benefit?

Not really sure how to answer your question. The only thing different about using it versus regular OSB or plywood is to make sure the shiny side is facing inward towards the coop.

Thank you. And I need roofing material on top of it, right? A neighbor suggested just painting the top, but it isn't meant to be an exterior, unprotected surface, is it?

Yes, you will need roofing material on top. Generally, you would lay down tar paper/roofing felt and then place shingles over that. You could cover it with galvanized or polycarbonate roofing panels. Make sure you give the OSB some overhang with the roofing panels or shingles. Otherwise the OSB will soak up rain and fail prematurely.
