Hey again. Stuff just keeps happening and I'm not getting a break, lol.
Found some roundworms in my adult turkey's poop this morning. The first time I've ever seen a wormy poop in the 5 years of owning any birds, and I only have seen that one. I did a loop around the open ground of the yard they're in and didn't see any worms in any other poops. None of the turkeys have been acting particularly different then normal, so I didn't know anyone had worms until I just saw the worms in the poop. It was quite a few of them and they were pretty long.
I have on hand:
Valbazen (1 yr expired)
Panacur suspension 10% liquid ( https://www.chewy.com/panacur-suspension-horse-dewormer/dp/201475 )
I have 6 turkeys. 1 bourbon red tom (between 30 and 40lbs last I weighed, which was probably a year ago tbh), 2 lilac hens (one is petite, other one weighs a bit more then her), 1 red bronze and 1 rusty slate hens(both similar weight), and 1 royal palm (generally light). I read somewhere that you can go off the average weight for each variety and worm based on that, but I want to make sure I give them enough / don't give them too much. These are my pets and I'm very afraid of losing them by hurting them with the wormer.
The main thing I'm nervous about is that I've seen in a lot of older threads to worm with Wazine17 first before using Valbazen so you don't shock their systems, but since Wazine isn't made anymore, what do I do? Do I just only use Valbazen or the Panacur? Will it be okay? Also I found conflicting information about the dosage on the Valbazen. The main guide ( https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...s-for-poultry-waterfowl-and-game-birds.75490/ ) I found/have bookmarked says 0.08ml per pound, where in a more recent thread (one made 2 months after the last update of the guide by the same person, here https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/best-deworming-methods-roundworms.1352876/#post-22313805 ) they suggested 0.04ml per pound. Which one would it be? Is it also still fine to use the Valbazen since it's only been expired 1 yr?
Sorry if this is confusing at all. Trying to word it the best I can.
