Vermont

We are between flocks at the moment because something got our last 3 hens while we were on vacation this summer. I felt so bad that the pet sitter was the one to discover the wrecked coop. my guess is it was a bear because window trim and hardware cloth were ripped off. I will start building a new one in the spring.

In the meanwhile here's a pic of a barred owl being very interested in the quail we had at a previous property. It never got one, but it did capture a mouse that was stealing quail food!

Thank you all so much for responding! This is great!😊
I'm going to take a wild guess: Killington?
Good guess- it is Appalachian Gap in Buels Gore.
Oh, and @CombNWattles, are you still looking for a Jersey Giant rooster? I have a young Black Jersey boy that I got from someone recently. He was hatched this spring. He's still in his teenage stage and seems to enjoy chasing around a few particular hens, but otherwise he is pretty mellow and prefers to roost with some hens other than go explore with the younger ones his age. He hasn't attacked anyone yet (there are always a lot of little kids that make a ruckus when they help me gather the eggs, so he's had plenty of opportunities), so I'm hoping he is going to be a good rooster.
He defiantly is not on the cuddly side though. He comes up to me and I can sometimes give him a pet, but I can't say he likes it too much.
I am still looking for a Giant… 😏

I love Vermont!!!!! It’s soooooo pretty!!!!!! And I love how they have the billboard ban to keep it that way!!!!!! Them and Maine. Plus Alaska and Hawaii but I’m just talking about New England states atm lol anyways, it’s just gorgeous!!!!!!
The billboard ban is 👌
Being away from home makes me appreciate it even more.

:frow Hey! It's been a warm November so I've been finishing house painting projects before winter actually comes. Planning to spray paint some lattice today. Still have my garden shed to finish siding with cedar shakes. Hopefully I can finish that this year too!
We would love to see pictures! 🏡

There was a Barred Owl in my duck pen this evening! He flew up into a crabapple tree and watched me the whole time I did the evening animal chores. I hope he gets those rats!
Wow! You don’t usually get to see them up close! Or at all 😂 you just hear their weird noises.

I've waiting impatiently for emu eggs - could start getting them any time now.

On the bird front, my flock is down in size at the moment, but I'm taking in a bunch from a friend on Saturday. Also just bought some girlfriends for one of my nicest Ko Shamo cocks. They'll be coming all the way from California on Monday.
Would also love to see emu pictures… Ko Shamos are really neat! This one was at the Addison County Fair the last couple of years:

She seemed like a character. 😆
I caught a great horned owl in my duck pen netting a couple years back. Had to get him out and then run him over to VINS because he grabbed his own wing in his talons and tore himself up.

😱 Wow! He’s beautiful. VINS is such a cool place. I like to visit the turkey vultures there.
