Hi, I am Tammy aka harmonychick,
We live on acreage but the predator birds are getting our ducks and chickens almost weekly. I am now looking for year-round chicken tractors to make and pull around daily. Since we live where there is snow and high heat they need to be versatile and safe. Any suggestions would be helpful, remember though that I get to move them. My husband isn't a farmer!
We currently have 8 turkeys, 10 ducks (all of our females and babies were killed so we just restocked), 2 guard geese (brand new) and about 40 chickens. We have a mixed Australian Shepherd/Border Collie/German Shepherd (we think) dog named Daisy who protects and herds the poultry.
Since our grandchildren come to visit, we have all different varieties of chickens so that we have all color of eggs. Our kids and grandkids name the birds for us. Our rooster is named, Victor Scuttlebutt. I'm sure you can imagine the other names.
I enjoy all of the stories and advice that I read here. Thanks for sharing.
