Video of our broody coming back to her eggs

Love that initial burst of speed when Millie first headed back...and how she wanted to follow you inside. That black chicken in the background was huge!!

(unless Millie and your dog are awfully small)...

If you think that was fast, you should see her when she's leaving the coop! I've got a video of that I'm going to put on the blog in a day or so. Too funny. She screams, flaps her wings and runs from those eggs. Then she just can't help herself. She has to go back down and sit on them. I don't think she would ever leave the nest if I didn't pick her up and take her off of it. The black rooster is Henry. He's huge....a standard cochin, and as sweet as the day is long.

Very sweet. It never gets old or boring to see a dedicated Mother Hen.
I thought I was the only one who talked to my Broodies like that!

Mine all end thinking their name is Momma.

We just have the best time with our wonderful mother hen. Every Spring like clock work she says she wants some eggs to sit on and she won't leave the nest until we give her some. She was sitting for almost two weeks this time by the time I rounded up some eggs, so I hope she doesn't give up on them. I'm a little worried that I can't candle the maran eggs. I hope none of them explode!

My own Buff Orp, Nugget, just pushed away her "babies". They are over 12 weeks old--she just keeps them and keeps them. Best mother hen we've ever had. I'm hatching more eggs from the lines she came from because she is such a great girl. Loved the video!

I have a big Silver Grey Dorking hen like your Nugget. She will accept any chicks and keeps them until they are almost full grown. Defends them at all costs. She is invaluable.

Don't you just love the BO mother's. I have 4 BO hens and Millie is the only one that gets broody. But boy does she.....she won't stop until she hatches some.
