Vomiting due to Duck Eggs!?

He is allergic or intolerant to duck eggs. My whole family can eat duck eggs, but if I do I get terrible stomach pains and vomiting. I can eat my chicken's eggs just fine. I can't even eat baked goods that use duck eggs it's that bad. It's not that uncommon we just don't hear about it as much because duck eggs aren't nearly as popular in the US as other countries.
im looking for information on this as well. My husband can eat chicken eggs with no issues. a Duck egg makes him very sick, diarrea, stomach pains. This morining we tried a guinea egg scrambled with a chicken egg. he reported that it made him sick like the duck egg so Im guessing he cannot eat quail eggs, goose eggs, turkey eggs or anything except chicken. thing is. I cant find out why? he isnt allergic or intollerant to anything else.

Different species create different proteins and other compounds, or different levels of them, so you can be allergic or j tolerant to chicken eggs but not duck or vice versa. Same with cow milk vs sheep/goat.

It sounds like guineas and ducks both have in common high levels of something in their eggs that people can be allergic to. Guess you would want to investigate if other fowl have eggs more similar to chickens or ducks…or just stick to chicken eggs if ducks cause you problems.

If allergic to duck eggs, do check at fancy pastry shops to see which they use. Duck eggs make for a richer dough, so they are sometimes the preferred egg for enriched pastry dough.

I cant find out why, but my husband can eat chicken eggs but he cannot eat duck or guinea eggs same thing happens as man in your story and it doesnt affect me or my son.
Anecdotal but someone told my husband that feed can make a difference. She and her husband were having the same reaction, someone told them to switch feed and they haven't had a problem. He didn't ask about the feed because we didn't have any ducks at the time.

It’s possible some allergens could transfer I suppose? It works that way with breastfeeding moms and babies with food allergies 🤔🤷‍♀️. So maybe if someone had a soy allergy, for example…? Worth investigating at least.
