Waiting in line for the nest box (pix)

I have 4 nest boxes for 7 hens- and they ALL lay in one spot- UNDER the nest boxes!

I wonder what's up with that - plenty of boxes, clean straw - yet only a couple boxes are appealing. I'd like to see the results of a scientific study on the topic. Anyone know of any? (I'ma research buff)

I wish mine would wait or double up. Nope, if one is in the next box, they lay on the floor. Doesn't matter there are 3 other perfectly good boxes with "fake eggs"...lol
