I know this is a long shot (& I also check Craigslist) but I thought I would post this here as well. I'm not in a hurry to find this guy but am always hoping....

I am looking for a large fowl, white turken rooster: NN preferred, fully naked necked with no or extremely minimal bow tie.

I am looking for a meaty Rooster (or a young Roo from parents with good carcass qualities) to keep with my dual purpose backyard flock. If he comes from someone's backyard meat projects, that would be a bonus. I would like him to be white or mostly white/light colored. I have enough red and black birds.

He would have 17 hens of multiple breeds, some smaller leghorns & some larger dual purpose breeds. They are in a well ventilated 8.5' X 8.5' coop with an attached run (in the shade) and are let out to range our 3/4 acre yard for one or two hours a day, after I get home from work. There are occasional weekends when they don't get out, but they get plenty of feed, water, & snacks.

If anyone knows where he may be, let me know.

I would also consider some fertile eggs or newly hatched chicks from a turken meat project flock as I currently have a broody Jersey Giant hen.

Thank you in advance!

Hi. :frow

I would order some NN Turken chicks from the hatchery to tuck under the JG hen and avoid any possibility of bringing any parasites or disease into my flock. :old They are cheap enough you can order plenty to choose only the best for keeping and eat or sell the rest. Since you aren't in a hurry... you will have him for the next breeding season. ;)

Excellent table birds, with good growth rate and nice calm demeanor. I like Turken a lot. So did my processor. :love

Good luck on your search! :fl :pop

That is a good point. My flock is fat and healthy and I shouldn't push my luck. Ordering hatchery chicks has always been in the back of my mind as the most likely option, and is probably what I will end up doing, but I would prefer eggs or newly hatched chicks from a known meaty line of turkens that aren't all red. I'm hoping there is a breeder on BYC, that may have what I want.
Most of the hatchery naked necks I see are red and more geared towards egg laying performance. I understand there are exceptions out there as well. I believe there is a hatchery that sells naked neck broilers so I would likely order from them, if I have to.
I know color shouldn't be overly important in the scheme of things, but if I'm going to keep them and watch my daily dose of chicken TV, I really don't want more red or black birds.

I hope that you can find someone who has the white ones that you are looking for. They are beautiful! I have a set of 4 of the White NN's that are mixed with the White Breese, but the 3 pullets haven't laid their first egg yet.
This is where I say; pictures please! :pop I wanna see your chicken tv! I’m so jealous! Haha!
