Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Silkies are perfect size for the little coop/run things all the stores sell. Those aren't really sized for large fowl.

Big downside is that silkies WILL go broody and try and hatch rocks

Omg I’m dying right now! Hatching rocks! Soooo they’ll sit on standard eggs and hatch them? None of my other breeds are broody. Well, not guaranteed to go broody anyway. So could silkies be used to hatch their eggs? Better than a rock, right?! :lau

I'm thinking about trying to breed for this color. I have two hens like this and know what caused it now.

Broodiness is why many people keep a couple silkies. They will hatch and raise all breeds of chick.

all four of mine have gone broody before their first year they are collectively raising
a marans peep and creme legbar pullet they where on eggs that proved to be flawed
so gave them the peeps
