I was telling my Mom that I thought I had a hen coming down with sour crop. She asked how it was cured. She started gagging and freaking when I told her about the monostat. I found that reaction funny.

Also Frontline for dogs (not cats). 2 drops large fowl. 1 drop bantam. It's persistent in the skin so only use if you're not going to be eating eggs for a long time. I usually only use if a broody I'm going to use for chicks shows signs of mites. It's also expensive.

No, but I have used pyrethrin. Pyrethrin is the organic and permethrin is the synthetic. I would go with pyrethrin. Available on Amazon I believe.

No, I don't think so. On the back of neck or under wings I would think.

Pyrethrin comes from a flower, chrysanthemum I believe. But I have used permethrin to spray down the coop, just not on my chickens.

Yes. There are a few things that kill the mites. I had a favorite rooster (only him) that became covered on mites very quickly and was anemic and dying. Was told to use the Frontline because it works the fastest. It can affect fertility for awhile, but being dead does too.
