If she lost her last brood then that perfectly explains her extra mothering this time around. Animals remember traumatic events.

It was (luckily) the first brood I've lost this way. Normally I keep them as sheltered as possible when they are sitting on their eggs. However this lady escapes everytime and searches for a hiding spot of her choice.
So we let nature runs it's course with her. Last year it went bad. This year better
