So, we've had two (pregant) LaMancha goats for a while now, since February, and one of them has been waiting to birth a kid. . . . Or two. Yesterday was her due date, and today after a while I was pretty sure she would just have it (or them) later at night. Nope! In a matter of an hour, she suddenly spat out TWO kids, while I wasn't there, and had a successful birthing all by herself! When I found her and her two kids in the barn, I immediately kicked all the other goats and yak out, then ran inside to tell everyone else with much excitement.

So, here's the twins!! One is a girl (the black one) and another a boy (the huge brown one) and they're both SO beautiful!! . . . Still haven't had a 100% decision on names yet, but we're likely to not keep the boy anyway. We'd like to, but who knows. . . .

They are adorable! I want one

My friend's pygmy had twins early this month. I never knew they were the size of a chihuahua at birth! scary small.

How big are Lamancha's and their kids?

Indeed! I was very happy to see and know that it went perfectly well, considering it was her first!

LaManchas are just a tiny bit smaller than Nubians and/or Alpines. The babies can easily curl in your lap at this age.

I love LaManchas. Our second girl I'm hoping to see pop out a kid in June, but right now I see NO signs of her even being pregnant. If she's not, we've got a Nubian buck for her. . . Should throw some very interesting "half-eared" kids.

I love their ears or no ears I should say....so cute.

Long story, but I think I'm going to have to breed my LaMancha does next year to either a Toggenburg or a Saanen. The Saanen has airplane ears, so we should get some interesting kids.
