I would go with beet juice over Kool-Aid. More natural.
That being said, you need to check with your local ordinances. There was a lady charged with animal abuse and had to go to court in a neighboring town because she dyed her poodle pink (she was a hair dresser an used beet juice) for breast cancer awareness. I don't recall the outcome but I am sure it was a major hassle for her. Some towns have laws against dying animals, including poultry. I'd hate to have a do-gooder turn you in and ruin your day.
