I have 15 chickens, 12 of them are ALMOST 2 years old (DOB 3/2023).

Of course, it’s December, some are molting, etc etc so I have only been getting about 1 egg a day.

Tonight I found an “egg” inside a box. It looks like chewed gum or deflated balloon…

Is it just a weird egg thing? It’s not a illness thing right?

It's the tan object in the center, correct? It appears to be lash material, but you must verify it by slicing into it. If it's the consistency of cheese, it's reproductive pus, a sign of infection in the oviduct.

In an older hen, it would be very hard to treat, but a two-year old might benefit from an antibiotic if you get right on it.

Unfortunately, antibiotics are not easy to come by, and depending on your location, may be impossible. If you have a vet who will prescribe a ten-day course of amoxicillin, 250mg twice a day, that's one way. Or you can use a leftover human prescription if you have it.

Not really solid like the lash photos I have seen before. More like hollow with some junk inside

What is the texture? Papery? Cheesy? Hard? Soft?

Have you noticed any hen that is lethargic, fluffed up, acting unwell?

Keep alert for any more of the same stuff and try to notice any hen acting "off". That's all you can do for now.

Kinda squishy, but kinda firm because it’s deflated? It’s hard to explain.
None of the hens have been took off. Some have been hiding in the coop a lot when the young roosters get out of their run and want to harass them. But all come running for snacks

Could be a shell-less egg collapsed, all right. Was the nesting material under it wet? That would lend more credence to it being a collapsed egg.
Honestly, I am not 100% sure if it was wet underneath. The nesting material is a little damp at the moment anyways cause of the excessive amount of rain we had recently. (I have a weird leaking problem at the boxes, I’m building a new coop in the spring)

There is obviously a big poop next to it though
