When you have birds to this age (the black one) and they aren't developing a "ball" of feathers on their heads, they are a cockerel. The trickier ones are the cockerels with a mature crest shape. In that case, feather shape and their "forehead" feathers are going to be the ticket.

Your black/white crested is a pullet. She has a very nice crest. So nice that youll wanted to consider beginning to trim her eyes clear. They can easily develop infections once the feathers begin to cover their eyes. She also has a nice lower level of black feathers. She would be a really nice breeding candidate.

Your mottled little ones there look like they aren't polish, but instead an Appenzeller Spitzhauben. A really really cool chicken. And at the moment those are looking to both be pullets. The crest on a male is going to be long in the front and short in the back. We have a few here and i am falling in love with them.

And revisiting the black at the bottom - there may in fact be some mixing there. Regardless of gender, it should have a more of a pronounced crown - it's neck is also a little too puffy.

If you’re willing I’d be curious about this one as well. My toothless terrier killed it last week 😭 I named it Einstein 😢

Wow I’ve never even heard of those before! They’re all from RK 😂 i love the crested one. It bounces when she walks around lol I’ll have to try to look into how to trim the feathers safely. My grandmother raised exotic birds and knew how to trim wings but she unfortunately is no longer of sound mind so I doubt she could help any

Do you think it’s a mixed breed then that’s also a cockerel?

Oh gosh. I am sorry. The polishes are so personable that it is the saddest of all when something happens.

This one is going to be right on the cusp of crest sexing, but If it were mine it start anticipating him as being a cockerel.

I had a feeling this one was a cockerel. He was very very sweet since I brought him home. My dog got 3 in 2 days. A guinnea, a Dominique and my Einstein. Still can’t believe she caught the guinnea.

A BLACK HOUDAN! That is what that is! Nearly impossible to sex. I have one here that is almost 14 weeks and I am still unsure as to the gender.
Another I’ve never heard of 😂😂😂 do you think it’ll take hearing it crow to know? I genuinely know very little and dove in head first 🙈 I sincerely appreciate your time and knowledge

Here is a picture of one of my spitz hens and our houdan.

(A bonus pic of our D'Uucle breeding pair as well. I put it in there on accident, and Not sure why but it won't let me delete it)
