Actually, the hen was needed to help out the tomatoes. I have had a bad stink bug problem this year more than ever. For some reason, my hens are trying so hard NOT to get into my garden when I let them out to scratch in the evenings. I am having to put hens into the beds to try to get them started on eating those dratted bugs. I'm almost to the point that I'd deal with some hen pecked plants for the sake of getting rid of those stink bugs! At any rate, I thought this hen was cute in the garden so I snapped her picture.
Best I can tell, she's a Buff Orpington, and I have three more just like her in my hodge podge flock of 35. We like these girls so much that I have bought three more Buff Orp pullets for the flock.
