It looks like powdery mildew to me. How is the drainage where the plant is?

I am not sure about cures for it, but you can buy squash seeds where the resulting plant will be resistant to it. If it becomes a thing for your squash you could plan on that for next year.
Can I kill it or deal with it? Also the drainage is ok but we got heavy rain for a week and that area hasn’t really recovered.

I think the cure is fungicide. I usually just accepted the lower yield if it wasn't too bad and I had other plants that weren't affected.

This place is in Maine, so maybe this isn't where you would get it from, but their descriptions are pretty great, so you could zero in on which one you would want to try, then buy it where you are.

Oh dear I see you are in Texas, that means I'll be seeing it here in NC soon.

A fungicide is your best bet for this plant. It does not cure but will slow it down. You can give it a try.

If the growing tip is not affected sometimes I will prune away affected leaves and cover the stem with soil or compost. The stem will root. The tip will continue to grow and the fungicide will help slow down the mildew. If the tip is affected I usually pull the plant as mildew spreads by spores and can affect other plants.

It is so weird, I always had just one plant get it each time I saw it. Maybe it has to do with the variety, but mine were kind of spread out, too.

My in-laws live in a city and they have a tiny garden plot surrounded but cement sidewalks, and their squash got it every time they tried to grow it.
