That’s a great question! The shelter we got him from advertised the litter as Lab/Golden Retriever crosses. But he looks just like a friend’s registered Redbone Coonhound. Except for the ears. He definitely doesn’t have hound ears. So our best guess is Lab/Coonhound. In his younger days he would catch rabbits, squirrels, raccoons, mink, whatever ventured onto the property (including one unfortunate stray cat that we knew about) and terminate them. We had no fat rabbits in our yard! DH once clocked him at 35 mph as he was running alongside the ATV. Now he kind of jogs towards the rabbits to make it look like he’s doing his job, and stops as soon as they run away.

Before he got old and grey.
