Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

We lost two birds last week both from the same group of chicks but died for two different reasons. These were also two of my 4 chickens I showed at fair last year.

Nursing a headache today.

Unsure of the cause.... I had a bunch of errands planned for today....

But we have had a bunch of rain, on TOP of the snow and ice ... yeah, fully on horror out there, not so sure i want to drive in this anyway.

But maybe... the headache and the weather will clear before the day is done.

And yes... I took all the legal drugs, and some coffee... stupid head...

Good morning pond. Crisp and cold on my lily pad. I've got my morning hot chocolate in my cup. The Christmas tree is up and decorated and smells nice and piney :) The cats seem to really leave a real tree alone and I like it so much more than our sad old artificial. There's a fresh dusting of snow outside with more supposed to fall today. I've been running nonstop since last Thursday so I'm going to hibernate inside today. I have some custom work to do for a few people but I think I can do that with a movie on and the little propane heater cooking :D My chest and shoulder are bothering me a bit this morning so an ibuprofen might be in my future. About 15 years ago, I sprained my entire left side chest wall and the cartilage in my breastbone pretty bad so every now and then if I lift something too heavy or move something the wrong way, my chest, shoulder, and up in to my neck get tight and sore. It'll all be ok though. It'll pass like usual, eventually... as long as I behave myself lol
You SPRAINED your CHEST?? I had no idea that chests were sprainable! I hope the soreness resolves for you soon.

For some stupid reason I’ve been awake since 3:00 this morning. I went to bed at 10:00, slept well until I got up to use the bathroom and my body said, “That was a nice nap! You don’t need any more sleep tonight.” I’ll just tell my student that I need a keeper today and he gets to be in charge. Those are always fun days! 🤪

If the pond wasn’t frozen over, there would be major whitecaps today. We’re getting a lot of wind today. No snow to blow around, though.

Yummy! Going to get some of that right now actually :)

Yes, I learned the hard way that you can indeed sprain your chest wall. It was an unfortunate accident at work. I used to stack pallets of boxes at work (pretzel factory) and I grabbed a pallet that was extremely heavy and had plywood on the top so I had to grab on each end of it with my arms stretched all the way out to pick it up and move it. I didn't even know what I did at the time but the next day, I was in extreme pain and was having trouble breathing. I ended up sent to the hospital by ambulance because they thought I had a blood clot in my lung. After some tests and they told me what was wrong I remembered exactly how I did it. It was not a fun time. Now it acts up every now and then but doesn't usually last more than a few days. Ibuprofen is usually my friend when that happens.

We have some heavy snow forecast, starting this evening through Friday. We'll see what we actualy get since one thing says 2-4" and another says up to 8". Who knows.

I am seeing high estimates for most of PA.
