We got a mixed bag- 2-Leghorns, 6 Isabrowns, 2-black Australopes and 2 Blue Plymouth. So far, they are playing nice with each other-although hubby said he went in and a brown was trying to peck one of the leghorns. He shooed her away and I haven’t experienced any bullying-yet!
Hi, congrats on your chicks! What breed did you get (share a photo if you'd like)? Make yourself at home here!

I fear the “novelty” will wear off-and come next spring people will discard them or people didn’t really do their homework and have no idea how to raise them properly. I say that because all of these places are selling out of the chicks, but they have PLENTY of coops available. Yea, egg prices are high, but I doubt they stay this way-and a bird, even the IsaBrowns are at least a 3 year commitment. Just my .02 centsHello, and welcome to BYC. OMG HEATHER FLOCKLEAR IS AN AWESOME BYC HANDLE!Hello Everyone from Ohio! New here and excited to find this community!
We have been on our 4 acre property for 11 years now and over the years have discussed adding chickens to our idea of being more self sustaining. We planned for their introduction to the homestead last fall, and NEVER in a million years expected everyone in their brother to be buying chicks this spring-but they have. (Which makes me sad and that can be for another post).
Fortunately, we found 12 females yesterday-and they are looking good this morning in their brooder box.
Looking forward to learning more than I know and joining the big “Chicken Tender” family!!!![]()
