Welsh Harlequin Breeding Thread - People who are breeding or want to breed their WH's talk

Ah, yes so if anyone cares to comment on my boys... I have 4 drakes from a breeding out of TSQ Holderreads. I have only 3 ducks so I am going to sell one of them, pair one of them and put the other 4 on a pond I own for pleasurable viewing. These shots aren't perfect and the feathering is in the last few weeks of molt (tons of feathers on the ground) so the partially green head is not a concern. These drakes range from 15-19 weeks old.




Any feedback is appreciated.

I've had my WH for 1 1/2 years now. The guy that I got them from said that they were 3 then. So I'm guessing they're just over 4 yrs old. What I was wondering do WH ducks get darker as they age? As you can see I have one that is almost back to the khaki coloring (one on left with head down).she has always been the darkest one of the bunch, but after her summer molt she got even darker.Even the whitest one I have has gotten darker (one on right)?

They do normally darken as they age

My ducks have just about finished molting, and my two oldest girls are now much browner than the others. Very pretty, but different.

Excited to see othes with wh. We only have a pair but I love them! I want to add more hens but I would.like to hand pick them out and I am in AL. Not many local.

Yes, you do, and you will need to get rid of one of those drakes as your girls will be mated to death with that drake to hen ratio.

I was looking at getting some birds from Holderreads's next year. Just curious, did you order the regular ducklings or request the top show quality ones? Just trying to get an idea of what to expect. I've been reading that even their regular ducklings are very nice.

I have gotten both their regular quality and their top show quality, and to be honest I can't really tell the difference looking at the birds. Their birds are just of such superior quality that you can't go wrong getting the regular birds.
