I want to know what are normal temps for chicks and what are some signs they are not feeling good? Is it a good idea to mix just a bit of medicated feed with regular feed to be pro active? I just want to be prepared and know about it before it happens so I am not hopeless when it is happening. Thank you 🙏

"Normal temps" is whatever a chick is comfortable with. If under a week old, around 90-95F is typical, but best to go by their behavior. A chick that is cold will huddle directly under the heat lamp (if that's what you use) and a chick that is too hot will stay away from it and may pant.

Chicks that are bright eyed, active and mostly quiet are content chicks.

No, do not mix medicated and non medicated feed... if you are using medicated feed, it needs to be fed as is so you don't dilute down the already low amount of amprolium in it.

The rule for chicks is 95°F for the first week and then decrease the temp by 5 degrees every week until they are weaned from the heat. But not all the brooder has to be the same temp, place the lamp on one side so the chicks have space to escape from heat when they need it. To be sure the temp is right for the chicks you have to watch their behaviour: if they alway are all together and stay always under the lamp and never leave the heat, it's too cold; if they are always on the colder part of the brooder trying to escape the heat, it's too hot. Also, when chicks are unhappy they are loud and scream. If you meant the signs they are sick, then you have to pay attention if they are lethargic, not eating and drinking after 3 day old, poops of strange colors, also check them daily for pasty butt.
Don't mix medicated and non medicated feed, give only medicated feed or it won't have the same effect and maybe be uneffective.

Well I have a bag of organic non medicated feed and a bag of medicated feed I was just thinking putting some in (because they are not sick) to just help boost their system. But great tips thank you

Ok I was just thinking while they are not sick I could add a little to help boost their system and thank you for the signs to be looking out for many thanks!
