A friend of a friend sent us pics of their hen, they aren't sure of the breed. We aren't experts, just have our light sussex girls in the backyard. My first thought was barred rock but could possibly be wyandotte or another breed I haven't heard of!.... Any experts out there that could say for sure?
We are in NZ so could originate from US/UK or anywhere else really.

To me it look like either a barred rock or a "dominant barred D 959". Dominat chickens are pretty popular layer breeds in my country. I think they're mixes similar to EEs, but I'm not sure. They come in many different colors and types and each one has its own number

She has a pea comb. Not knowing the breeds in NZ too well, I couldn't say what she is, but wouldn't fit for barred rock in the US because of the comb. My bet is she is some type of layer cross, possibly with some blue egg genes which are often associated with pea combs.
Great observation with the comb, thank you!

This.

I believe the "Dominant" breed that Clover posted also has a pea comb. I guess that's a possibility if they are also in NZ.
