What breed is your favorite in your flock?

Pics
My Bielefelders are very friendly but I have one young lemon cuckoo Niederrhiener (left in pic) named Daisy that is sooo cuddly, she will coo when I scratch (lightly) behind her head. Just a loving little girl. The Bielefelder in the pic is Daphne, just as friendly but Daisy seeks out pets ❤️

Hands down my little Australorp cockerel right now, but that may change once his hormones start raging ha! He sits on my lap and purrs and makes this soft knocking noise when I talk to him. He will even close his eyes and snooze on me. He thinks I have nothing else to do all day but sit with him ha!

I really haven’t handled them all much, but I do go in the coop screen room and sit with them. They all come to me for food and talk but if I go to reach out they shy away. The golden lace Wyandottes seem to be the most curious of me and want to be near but don’t want to be touched which is ok. The Brahma’s could care less about me ha! They hardly will come to eat from my hand but occasionally will. All of them, once I pick them up, settle right down and let me check them over. They are still young about 8 weeks or closer to 9 wks maybe now. I lose track of time ha!

I was wondering what breed of chicken is your favorite one in your flock? By favorite I mean who is always looking for cuddles or just eager to see you, who lays eggs most consistently and who gets along with others….
I want a diverse flock but I want my flock to be friendly. I see them more as pets and producers of eggs. So who’s YOUR best breed ??
Thanks !
Easter eggers and olive eggers!

All my lavender and black Ameraucanas (not EE) except one love to cuddle. They are from a show line, so they have friendly personalities. Dorking, two Oliver eggers, and Splash Marins love to cuddle too. Buff orpington and Salmon faverolles don't like to cuddle, but love to be pet. Dorking is the most steady layer: 4~5 eggs per week in any season including winter.

I LOVE my Salmon Favorelle so much! My first experience with them and so far so good! I have two but one got attacked a few days ago 😖 I also Love my ‘Barred Rock’ She is mixed because she lays Blue eggs, but she is so friendly. And of course my golden comets.

I love my barred Plymouth rocks. They are very friendly with me. They are my favorite so far. My sapphire gems are sex linked and I’ve already had one die before she was a year old. They are very skittish but good layers. I’d not get the gems breed again.
I agree, I love my sapphire gems aka Plymouth blues, but all three of my girls have laying issues 😢

My favorite breed in general are silkies. I currently own 9 chickens and 5 out of them are silkies. The only really friendly one is my rooster that I hand raised. The rest of my silkies were bought as adults or were raised by a broody hen and didn't get much human interaction growing up.
My absolute friendliest chicken is not a silkie though. Despite being raised by a broody hen without much handling, she still is the nicest chicken I own. She is a bantam cochin (frizzle). She walks up to me and lets me pet her. A close second is my bantam brahma.
In terms of egg laying I don't see much of a difference in the breeds I own. I have 4 hens that lay (3 silkies, 1 bantam brahma). Obviously I get the silkie eggs more often because I have more silkies, but the brahma also lays pretty often. I don't have my birds for egglaying, so I don't mind not having a ton of eggs. The only time it matters is when I'm collecting eggs for hatching.
