Thank you!! So another note, the egg he came from was a normal sized egg. I hatched Silkies a month after him and those eggs were so tiny compared. Do you think the egg size changes this?

What color was the egg? Either way, he is a cockerel. If mom was barred then he is sex linked.

I have seen some pretty big Silkie eggs, especially because there are a lot of people who don't pay attention to their size.

It is a dominant gene located on the sex chromosome. Therefore females have one copy and males have two.

If a female has a copy she is completely dark, if a male has only copy he is intermediate so a black with color underneath.

If it was hatched in August I would say it's definitely a cockerel then. He really is a cool looking fella.
