Whitehackles have white feathers under the hackle area. Lift up his neck feathers, if you see any white feathers then yes - he's a whitehackle. If not... well, he's not.

Whitehackles now days can be red, or light red under the hackles... It is due to so much out-breeding to cross in new birds, so what was called a whitehackle now is really extinct unless someone has the "old stuff".. Most whitehackles come spangle, it's kind of rare to catch a red one.. Is he straight comb or pea comb? Whitehackles should be full straight comb with white legs in my opinion (though some come yellow too).

The key is go with what the person you got him from told you basically, american gamefowl are crossed birds set as a family. So your whitehackle could have hatch, roundhead, radio/kelso, sweater, and who knows what else in it.. The person who told you will probably be more correct than someone who just guesses and knows nothing about the fowl.

All pure strains have other blood in them anyway ..so go with what he says and start making them blood more pure by getting u a good whitehackle hen....or start making your own blood family
