Hello everyone!
I am completely devastated with the loss of my chicken. My flock does not free roam. I did introduce new chickens to my flock this spring, but separated for 12 weeks before introduction. On October 12th I realized one of my 2 year old chickens was acting off. Seemed lethargic and had yellow diarrhea. I gave her an epsom salt soak that day and again the next day. She wasn't very interested in food at the time either. I kept trying different foods and she eventually started to eat. Her stools continued to vary between normal and diarrhea. She still was not eating well for about 2-3 weeks and not gaining weight even with eating a scrambled egg 2-4 days straight before she got sick of it. She overall seemed weak, but could walk around fine and disinterested in food. I dispatched her today and pulled what is in the following photos out of her abdomen. Anyone know what it is? Could I have prevented it?
