I went out to collect eggs this evening and found this! What is it? All my hens seem happy and healthy. Haven't been having any issues at all. Is this something to be concerned about? They are about 4 months old, lay regularly, have oyster shell, egg shell, and Purina game starter, live in pens on the ground. Mating ratio 5-1 roo. Overall happy I hope 🤞🏼 just a hiccup maybe? Sure is weird 🧐

Hello Your eggs are so beautiful! I don't know what the reason your egg is weird. It looks really weird.

Thank you so much 😊 I love all my birds so much 💖 but seriously this one is weird.... I did recently grind up oyster shell to power for their little beaks. Found a blender at the thrift store finally. They always had oyster shell but just what size came in the bag. Maybe a hen over ate and did a solid calcium blob/rock egg?

Does it have stuff in it like yolk and stuff like that I had a coturnix hen that layed eggs like that they always ate them though

Immature, or incompletely developed eggs are gonna happen. Seem to be more common with younger hens, but will occur on occasion throughout their lives. As far as I know, the cause could be anywhere from just about anything, to just about nothing. Unless it becomes persistent, I wouldn’t waste any worry on it.
