What did you do in the garden today?

Finally made some progress today. The 16 x 4 foot garden bed is all tilled, cleaned, and raked and ready for planting. The white and red potatoes will go in the front row and when it warms up more I’m planting pinto beans behind the potatoes. I’m hoping to work on the garden where I’m planting early bush peas and Lima beans. We still got some rain showers today, but mostly light sprinkles.

as I usually run late I always save time by doing that.

I put soil first (about 2/3 of the container. on top of that soil I put a piece of kitchen towel and wet it so that seeds stay where I put them. then I put another piece of towel over seeds and wet a bit. at the end I cover that towel/seeds/towel sandwich with some soil. then I gently pour water so that all sits in water.

towel breaks so it stays where it is. it also helps to keep humidity.
That is super interesting, and I want to try it! Hopefully, I remember to try it with some of the pepper seeds next year!

I'm so excited, got so much done today & not in a terrible amount of pain. :wee

All but 2 beds have compost & are topped with mulching straw - ready to plant! Relocated a hoop that was in the chicken run & had collapsed under the snow to the garden for melons, just need to get it staked in. Did a lot of clean up all around the yard.

Well, I got some pumpkins in the ground, and some squash. I'll get photos once the rain lets up.

I picked a bunch of kale for dinner tonight.

While I was planting pumpkins the heavens unleashed! I got pretty soaked. 😂

I'm thinking the cloud will pass soon though and I can go finish my planting.
Annoying to see the blue sky further north east while it's pouring here.

Better weather today, dug out mulch from the pile, to help with erosion. pulled weeds from the garlic patch. Back yard still to wet to mow, swapped to weed-eater mowed everything else. Front Garden is still too wet to till. Asparagus bed is fruiting, third year so I should be able to harvest. Bees were very busy will add honey suppers soon....

I string trimmed the perimeter of the garden until the string flew out of the trimmer, as I'd used it all up. I need to reload it tomorrow.

I did some weeding, gave the chickens a 5 gallon bucket of weeds.

My potatoes are all sprouting, and have sprouts a foot long! I'll plant them and a bunch of onions next week. I want to till the potato patch, but I need hubby's help getting the tiller started. He'll be back Thursday, and it'll probably be after the weekend before he can help me with my project.

Does the yard count?

yesterday we went to home depot and priced these lawn chairs resort style, not ratchet style. We also checked Walmart. We liked the price better at Walmart almost 1/2 for the lawn chairs. We also got the big towels.
Yesterday we also got patio chair table cushions, red, from home depot ( originally for different chairs.) Then today we went back to Walmart, and found red patio cushions for half the price. Well the cushions were cheaper, but in this case we liked the cushions that cost more from home depot. We will return the Walmart cushions.
