What do you guys think of this video on how to sex 5 day old chicks?

The tail thing and the wing thing are not true unless those qualities are specifically bred for, which they aren't in almost every breed or hybrid. Amberlinks are specifically bred to be feather sexed, so the wing thing does work with them.

I've never vent sexed chicks, so I cannot comment on that aspect. But I am suspicious. They say vent sexing needs to be done shortly after birth, and those chicks are older. Remember, male chicks do not have an appendage like male mammals do, so I think it would be very tricky to tell unless you were an expert at vent sexing.

I am always curious about how people are *so certain* of their methods on social media -- the wing thing in particular was shown, on another video, as the complete opposite of what is male or female and I was just cracking up.

From what I've read here, you really just do not know for a long time -- and sometimes you don't know til one lays an egg or not. Unless a comb is pinking up early and growing considerably larger -- and even THEN you cannot be 100% sure.

So I find these videos on YouTube kinda meh... well, they aren't visiting this site anyway as far as I can tell.
