I've been around dogs a really long time, I don't have a huge amount of breed experience but I know what I like I almost got a mini pin or English toy terrier years ago.

It's okay, I know you're joking! But I do think you haven't experienced a good small dog yet. They are not all yappy rats that provide no real companionship.

Thank you And that is a fair point. I have never in my life had anything under fifty pounds, and that was just one dog, all of the rest where 70+ But I know they are still dogs. Every comment I make about not liking small dogs is a joke. I know even small dogs have the heart of a big dog. I’ll stop making those comments because obviously I’m the only one who thinks it’s funny

I don't mind the jokes. Dogs are dogs no matter the size. That's the great thing about them. Life changes. We used to say no small dogs too until we got older. They are easier to take places, cheaper to feed and medicate, and overall easier to cuddle up with. Yappiness isn't about size as much as it's about the breed, and the raising of the dog. There are plenty of yappy big dogs. We all need to find what suits us, and that can often change as we move through our lives.

And just to add more validity to little dogs, my Chihuahua rat terrier mix detected cancer in me twice, two different kinds. If it wasn't for her I would not have pushed the second time to get it checked out, and I would not be here. She stayed by my side throughout it all. I believe to this day she was sent to get me through the darkest time in my life, and she will forever be in my heart. She might have been small, 12 pounds, but she was mighty. Best dog ever.
