What happened to my hen’s butt/belly!?

She laid an egg this morning. She isn’t very happy with her new home, she made a big mess so I took her out and she pooped on the floor, it was runny but mostly brown and only a small bit of white. Her comb is normal and has not changed at all. I’ll have to look more at bloating today and get a better idea of if it’s swollen and compare to the other girls. She’s the biggest of them but I think I’ll still be able to see if there’s a significant difference

I personally think it looks like pecking from her flockmates. Once there is blood, they begin to cannibalize. So sorry that this happened to your sweet hen! I would spray her with the BluKote and return her to the flock sooner than later, to prevent further pecking. Or, if you want to keep her inside, bring in a friend!

Feather pecking often starts with a lack of protein in their diets. Be sure to feed your flock with a grower or all flock feed with 18%-20% protein with oyster shell in a separate container. Offering them scrambled eggs and cooked meat is a nice boost of protein snack!

Great to hear that she laid an egg today, so that will rule out a reproductive disorder.
What do you feed your flock? Too much carbohydrates like scratch, corn or bread can cause both obesity and cannibalising behaviour, so might be worth reassessing what you feed them. Many people believe that corn helps them keep warm in the winter but it makes them fat and dilutes their protein intake, neither of which is beneficial.

We feed them Purina latent and we don’t really give them many scraps other than leftover veggies or meat. They almost never get any bread at all. Im at tractor supply now looking for something to stop the pecking!

I just witnessed the strangest thing! I got blukote and sprayed it on Lady. I brought her out and stuck around to see what happened. Raven, the hen that got attacked recently went right for her, right where the wound is. So now I know who the culprit is. But what happened next was the strange part. My other hen Khaleesi started pecking feathers off of Raven and ATE THEM literally starting plucking feathers out and gobbling them down.....?! These threee are the oldest of the 6 and they were raised together so I’m not sure what the heck is going on? Is the coop too small for 6 hens? This is a stock picture of what they are in now. They spend most of the time in it as we have had bad luck letting them out to free range (between attacks and unwanted roaming into neighbors yards and flying over fences) We plan to make a large run for them this summer. I wanted to do it before winter but we just didn’t get to it in time, I figured they’d be ok for the season but maybe not...

That looks way too small for them to spend all of their time in. Is there any way to let them out an hour or two before they go to roost in the evening? I would increase their protein, possibly trying some Flock Raiser temporarily. Try some things to climb on, rocks, tree stumps, a hanging cabbage, or a swing or ladder. And try the pine tar. They may try to peck it, but once they get it on their beaks, they probably won’t do it again. Vent pecking can become a habit of the whole flock, and can lead to cannibalism.

That bum is like a walking billboard that says "pick me". Try the Pine Tar as suggested, but you may need to cage her right next to the others until she heals if they keep picking at her.

You mention that you have another hen pulled feathers from another hen and ate them. This could be just bad habit, boredom/lack of space or dietary need - sometimes all 3.
It would be good if you can provide them more room - space can definitely help relieve some problems that are seen with feather picking.
The coop that you have pictured, while it's stylish, imho, does not have enough run space to comfortably accommodate 6 large fowl hens. Aim for a general guideline of providing 10sq ft of run space per hen and 4sq ft of coop space per hen.
