What Homesteading book do you recommend?

My boyfriend and I have purchased a few homesteading books and honestly none of they have wowed us....we are looking for one with everything.

So what if you favorite go to homesteading book?!

I have a TON of books on this topic. This one above is by far my favourite. It has so many awesome projects. I just love it!

You will never find one book that will cover everything, so expect to fill your bookshelves with more than a few books.

If I had to choose just one all-encompassing book, it would be, "The Encyclopedia for Country Living", by Carla Emery.

Self -sufficiency for the 21st century by Seymour is amazingly diverse and has lots of info. The Foxfire books are also very good. You might look into some homesteading mags like Backwoods Home and Countryside. There are others out there but those two are our favorites.

I agree with the above books, and would add "Homesteading" by Gene Logsdon. It's out of print but may be at your local library. If not there, I'd suggest trying Amazon, in the used book section. It's been very helpful and informative. I'm reading his other books, which are also helpful but I'd suggest starting with "Homesteading".

I have purchased many books on homesteading and the best by far IMO are the Foxfire series and magazines would be Countryside and Backwoods Home.

Encyclopedia of country living by carla emery. Usually if I'm not sure it is where i look.

While it is not a complete book on Homesteading, I just finished reading "Root Cellaring - Natural Cold Storage of Fruits and Vegetables" by Mike and Nancy Bubel.
I have to say it is alot of very good information on an important aspect of homesteading. We have gleaned alot of great ideas for when we build our root cellar in the near future.
Not only does it talk about building a root cellar, but it also discusses what to grow for storage, how to prepare it for storage and even how to use the stored food.

I ordered The Homesteading Handbook but Abigail R. Gehring, It's got a lot of good general topics but not enough specifics on what I was looking for. I go flip through them at Tractor Supply and then order ones I like off Amazon, saves a bundle!

I love books. and I am trying the home steading thing myself Now alot of my friends told me to get the fox fire books. and they are nice I guess, But my favorite is a book called.." country wisdom & know-how" Everything you need to know to live off the land. And this book covers Almost everything from making butter to building a stone house. the book is amazing. the only down side. it's size. It's huge and it will stick out no matter where you place it. I don't mean huge like in war and peace ro the complete works of Poe. I mean the actual size. It has to be 20 inches by 12 and 3 inches think. if you can find it at a book store. give it a look.
