This has taken up residence on my coop this morning. It has webbed feet. Is it a loon? Hoping this is temporary! He seems afraid of the geese so he stays on top of the chicken run.

I bet it's someone's Muscovy cross that flew away and your coop reminds it of home! Poor baby!

Wasn't someone on here missing hers?

That's a muscovy duck and there's a lot of feral ones in your area. You can catch it and keep it if you like because the government considers them a nuisance and are exterminating them. They lay lots of eggs. You either have a female and a young male there (of course, the male won't lay any eggs

I think he's a beautiful color! I love the black ones.

Looks like a female muscovys to me!Muscovys are awesom animals, they are basically south american geese. There great mothers, docile and eat tons of bugs, frogs and mice.

As has been said, it is a muscovy. Since it flew in, it is almost certainly a female. They are ducks, not geese, although they are not closely related to most ducks; they are a form of tree duck. Very quiet birds who LOVE to eat mosquitos and flies. They hiss rather than quack.
