It's so funny how much I'm into this batch of chicks. They were my first incubator attempt. Didn't do so well, only 1/3 hatched, but I'm grateful for what did hatch. I'm as much a "new mom" as I was last time. Googling pictures of baby chicks vrs adult chicks. You are right about the coloring being deceptive. Makes me feel I want to add at least one speckled-something pullet to my flock.
Yeah, before I understood the dangers of just going and getting chickens from someone else, I added four barnyard mixes to my four tractor supply pullets. The place they came from had all sorts of chickens and breeds. I got lucky, no one brought any disease, but I have four chickens of mixed heritage. Does he have muffs? I guess I thought they'd be bigger to count.I think that he‘s just a mix. Muffs, feathered and yellow legs, nothing seems pure to me.
